Cooler's Revenge

Well, I've been wanting to do these movie reviews for a long time. The SSBU staff, with an exception to GBEh? who has left for a while, has decided to do some movie reviews. Among a few others that I wanted to do, I chose the English version of DBZ Movie #5: Cooler's Revenge. I will make this clear to all of you before I start. Since I am doing a review on the English version, I will write their names the way they are spelled according to the english show.

Story: Anyway, even though Cooler has never met Goku before, he has decided to get revenge on him. I guess the title means that he wants to avenge his brother Frieza, but he showed no sign of caring that he died and even laughed at him for getting beat up by a saiyan. Did I mention that this shows favorite scene of mine is at the beginning of the movie? Goku's dad Bardock telling Frieza off, only with so much better music playing in the background you wouldn't believe the coolness. I have a cool poster of Bardock and Goku in my room. Bardock is cool. Back to the story. The show starts out in Goku's house. Krillin, Goku, Gohan, Icarus, and Oolong are going on a camping trip. All is well until Cooler's Armored Squadron knock out Gohan and Krillin. (as you may know, a saiyans weakness is pulling on their tail.) Brave Goku comes back from the woods and tries to fight back, but he catches a eye laser beam thing from cooler sending him and Gohan down the river. Well, somehow cooler senses that they are alive, so he gets his squadron to blow up the forest, hoping to hit them by luck. Nope. Goku's pretty hurt, so Gohan and Icarus go out to get some senzu beans. They get the beans, and Yajirobe, the Bean Daddy, gives them an extra one which Gohan keeps with him. On their way back, Gohan gives Icarus a senzu bean, and his power level shoots up. it shoots up enough for the Armored Squadron's scouters to sense them. When it looks like all is lost for Gohan, it's Piccolo to the rescue! Gohan makes it back ok, but when he gets back, Salsa, the french talkin' member of the armored squadron, zaps the beans. Sorry Krillin. Look's like you won't be having beans for breakfast after all. Is this the end for Goku? Well, no. Gohan remembers the extra senzu bean and gives it to his dad. Being the brave monkey that he is, Goku goes back and starts fighting Cooler. I think I was about half asleep when I saw this movie, so all I remember from here on out is lots of fighting and Goku going super saiyan and healing this bird with his Ki. I assume that Goku wins because he always does in the movies. Oh yeah, I remember. Cooler sends out a giant ball thing that Frieza once used and tries to blow up Earth with it. Goku hurls it back at him and sends Cooler to the sun with it and he burns up.

Music: The music in this movie is 125.5% better than I thought it would be. Drowning Pool, Dust for life, American Pearl, Breaking Point, Finger Eleven, Disturbed and the Deftones all had at least one song in this 45 minute movie. It's alot better than that crappy music from the show.

Animation Quality: Great quality in this movie. The best I've seen yet. You should pick up the DVD. It's even better than the VHS version. I can tell that they took their time on this one and didn't edit anything from the original version.

Overall: This Movie is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

I give it 5 out of 5 Somari sprites! Whooo hoo!
